PAL (Performance Analysis of Logs) is a free performance troubleshooting and capacity-planning tool developed by Clint Huffman. It automates the analysis of Microsoft Windows Performance Monitor logs by applying expert-built thresholds and templates to turn raw counter data into actionable insights. PAL produces clear HTML reports that highlight potential bottlenecks across CPU, memory, disk, and network subsystems, as well as common Microsoft server workloads such as IIS, SQL Server, Exchange, and Active Directory. It scales findings to your system’s configuration, handles large BLG/CSV logs, and can run either through an easy-to-use GUI wizard or via PowerShell for unattended, repeatable assessments.
